My Review:I really enjoyed this book. Alex and Chance have both made it in the world. Chance is a rock legend. Alex is a highly awarded filmmaker. They were lovers in high school, but that ended when Alex's extremely strict father found them and they went their separate ways. For Chance, that meant to never again be with a guy, denying that part of himself completely. But Alex chose to out himself. They haven't had contact since that day, but that all changes when Alex hears Chance's rock band singing the song Alex wrote for Chance on the radio. Now, he's angry.
I liked the set-up on this. Alex films documentaries and that's how he gets close to Chance, he decides to do a documentary about life on the road with the band. Chance never sees the blindside coming. He's doing drugs and drinking too much, generally living the rocker lifestyle. The appearance of Alex terrifies him. Since that day when they were 18, he's completely ignored the fact that he's gay. He only sleeps with girls. He refuses to be gay. It would ruin his career, but all that is thrown away when Alex shows up. He can't resist that temptation.
There are a lot of emotions to this book, especially on Alex's part. Chance abandoned him to his abusive father. Chance ran even though they had a real love between them and he never came back. Now, Alex is very secure in who he is, but he never had closure on that fateful relationship with Chance and it still hurts. At the beginning of this book, that hurt turns really quickly to rage and anger. As a reader, my heart hurt for him.
Chance has his own set of issues. His on-stage persona is all about the sex...heterosexual sex. He doesn't think the band will survive if he comes out and he's nothing without his band and music. He honestly doesn't know what to do, even though there's no denying the connection between the two men has ever diminished.
The book covers time on the road with the band which I really loved because it not only was an entertaining m/m romance to read, but the band details were really interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more books in the series.

Forever Is Now Shooting Stars Series Book 1 edition by K Vale Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book was such an easy read! The flow of the story was so smooth that it was over before you realize you've made it to the end. I enjoyed so much about this rom/com. I give it that title because for as many romantic bits as are in it there are that many funny parts or more! To me, that really ups the ratability of a book. The MC's are brilliant together, and the supporting cast adds so much value to the story. Usually the side plots get in the way, or are boring, that is not so at all with these characters! I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. This was my first book by this author but will not be my last!
Alex and Chance had been lovers, but got separated - by a homophobic and brutal father and by desire for becoming famous stronger than the feelings. Chance had believed it when he was told that he would not succeed with his music if he was known to be gay. He was too young to see he might have both. Instead he started a journey of denial. Alex on the other hand chose to be open, and still he was successful.
Their ways might never crossed each other again, had it not been for a song. A song that Alex had written for and to Chance and that seemed to be a solace to Chance in times of distress. The purpose of the meeting might have been revenge, but the wish for revenge might also have only been an excuse for the meeting. Anyway, the two men meet again and reignite their relationship. Chance need some time to accept who he is, but a jealous ex-lover does not give him time to adjust.
Start off with 2 gay lovers their senior year in high school. Have that end with Alex's dad's fists when he finds the "perverts" in bed and Chance runs away, for good. Wait 9 years.
Now Chance is a major rocker in a famous band just as he always planned. He fakes being heterosexual; he drinks and does drugs. Alex outed himself the day after they were caught. Now he owns an award winning documentary production company. They are both very successful at what they do, but only Alex seems to be happy.
Then one day Alex hears the song he wrote for Chance playing on the radio. Chance and his band have recorded HIS song and Chance has taken credit for writing it. Alex is more that furious. It's time to pin Chance down and get a long over due apology.
The author wrote very believable and realistic characters. They were so flawed and human and filled with angst you wanted to keep reading until you knew the outcome.
Chance kept getting slapped with reality at every turn and it really hurt. But then, everything was all about Chance, so what did he expect? Alex took no crap from anyone. He was a totally cool character with quite a bit of heartache on the inside. There were a couple of "bad" guys; one because he just was, and one because, like Chance, he couldn't have what he wanted.
A grate read! I can't wait for book 2.
This book was near-perfect for me. I love books about rock stars. I love well-written romances. I love books about guys who got together when they were young, got separated, and find each other again later.
"Forever's Now" is a wonderful combination of all of these. An award-winning documentary producer/director and an up-and-coming rock star get back together nine years after the rocker ran away for fear that his gay relationship would kill his chance at a career in rock and roll. Alex, the director, uses the excuse of making a documentary to latch on to Chance's band in the hope of getting revenge - after all, Chance's newest hit song was one that Alex had actually written when they were both 18 years old.
Of course, when they're together, the sparks fly and romance is rekindled with all the normal obstacles you'd expect - a homophobic manager, fear of the fans abandoning the band, etc.
Of course, it all ends in a happily-ever-after, as it should.
It ain't rocket science or a cure for cancer. What "Forever's Now" is, is a rollicking good read that leaves you with a smile on your face.
That's a lot to say about any book.
